In the state of California, the club drugs have taken the shape of the most dreaded threat besides the other drugs like cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine. The various police departments of the state and drug monitoring personnel have reported the alarming rate of trade of club drugs in the various cities of California. The club drugs are enormously popular in the state, especially in the district of Southern California. As 
the name suggests, these club drugs are very popular in the night clubs and discos, and among the teens and the young adults. The all night dance parties of California witness a massive number of these young public resorting to these illegal drugs. These parties are famously known as raves and trances. The other places of entertainment within the various cities of this U.S state like the bars and dance clubs also see a huge craze for these drugs among the youth.

Besides, these drugs are usually used in combination with alcohol and this makes the club drugs all the more dangerous. The study further revealed that in certain cases, club drug abuse can also lead to death. These club drugs however, do not mean a single type of drug. They include various types of sedatives, stimulants and hallucinogens. The popularly used club drugs in the state of California are MDMA, Rohypnol, Ketamine, GHB, and LSD. The findings of NIDA also confirmed the report that some of these club drugs are also used for committing sexual assaults like the date rape drugs.
These club drugs are tasteless and moreover do not have any color or odor. Therefore, these can be easily dissolved in the drinks and beverages of the victims. The victims can be incapacitated after ingesting these drugs into their body. In many cases, the victims may even experience what is known as ‘anterograde amnesia’. The effect of these drugs is such that the victim may not even recall or remember what they could have possibly gone through when they were under the influence of the club drug. In California, GHB and Rohypnol drugs are quite in use for sexual assaults. There also has been a new addition to the duo which is known as Clonazepam. This drug is similar to Rohypnol.
