THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AGAINST DRUG ABUSE

California has the population of 32 millions and it is counted as one of the heavily populated state in the nation. Geographically, the state is the third largest state. The natives of this state differ widely in cultures and social backgrounds and there is a good mix of all types of people who live together. The state has gained a reputation of solving all it problems by itself. So whether it is natural calamity or social problem, the state has been 
very prompt and effective in solving the problems. In the recent years, the problem of drug abuse has been plaguing the state and there is very less that could be done to repair the loss and prevent further harm. But the state has lived up to its spirits and is innovative again when it comes to solving the problems of drug abuse. The state authorities have taken the right steps in order to reach a fulfilling goal that helps them sort out the problem.
So what has the state done? The Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs (ADP) works within the Health and Welfare Agency. It is the central resource of the state which works on alcohol and dug abuse prevention. It also does a lot of work on the treatment and research and also oversees all the programs involving alcohol and drug abuse. The Division of Substance Abuse has also been formed to tend to the problem. It works under the Department of Health. The task allotted to this body is to work as a single state authority and prevent drug abuse cases and also treat the ones that have been entangled in the web. ADP works in association with the Senate Select Committee on Substance Abuse and the State Assembly Health Committee. These bodies have the direct authority on the cases of alcohol and drug abuse. They have jurisdiction on the cases of alcohol and drug abuse cases. Within a gap of few years, the state has invested a lot of money in these bodies to help them curb the evil of drug abuse. It is but obvious that the state has shown good results in the cases of cutting down the drug abuse problems.
Prompt action taken against any problem will surely show good results and this problem also shows very good results. The stern steps that are taken against this problem have helped in bringing down the cases.

DRUG ABUSE IN WOMEN IN CALIFORNIA

Numerous cases of drug abuse in women have been reported in California. The statistics reveal that this problem is more of a rule than an exception. The cases have women who either supply drugs to the private clients or the ones who buy drugs for personal use. The cases among women were not easily depicted because it normally does not occur to that mind that a woman could carry out such perilous task. The task is 
perilous because if they are caught in the act of supplying drugs or even taking illicit drugs, they can be imprisoned for life.
The main trend is trading sex for drugs. The women agree to have sex with any unknown partner only if they give them drugs. This is a very easy way to get drugs and many women use their bodies in order to get drugs for personal use. These women can be located in bars and pubs where there are greater chances of meeting the people who supply drugs. In California, it is been known that the women who trade sex for drugs have a higher risk of sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS. This is clearly due to that fact that the women have unprotected sex with unknown partners when they are not in senses after taking drugs. This is a very sorry state to be in but the women can not pull themselves away from this life once they are caught in it. The women are caught helplessly in the web of drugs. The rehabilitation centers are filled with women who are under medication to word off the problem of drug dependency. The rehabs in California also have women who have been on drugs since past many years and are now fighting the problem.
This brings us to the question: what can be done about this problem?
The women who have become drug addicts need to consult professionals who can help them lead a normal life. The rehabs are specially designed places to help the drug addicts lead a normal life. The surroundings and the medical help are very beneficial to change the state of mind. The soothing environment and the all day and night medical help makes the people get out of their problems more easily. The women who are dependent on drugs are given special discussion sessions where the cause behind their dependency is found out. By working on the cause, the problem can be easily cured.

Drug problems among teens are seen to be multiplying day by day. Few cities in United States of America are seeing this havoc like California is witnessing. The whole problem presents a very sorry picture and there is very less that the witnesses can do. It is a case where no help is more effective than self help. The teens are at an age where rebellion is the order of the day, they love to break the rules and barriers to try something that is supposed to be out of reach for them.
